How to Make a Coffee Frappuccino

There are two parts to this frozen coffee drink:

  • Frozen blended coffee
  • Whipped cream topping

STEP 1: Whip together heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk.

Combine heavy cream and 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk in a tall container. Whip using a handheld milk frother until you get medium peaks. Set aside.

STEP 2: Make strong coffee.

Brew 4 tablespoons of coffee using 1 3/4 cups of water (filtered water if possible) in a coffee maker.

Let it cool for about 5 minutes or add a couple of ice cubes to cool it down quicker.

STEP 3: Blend coffee, ice, and sweetened condensed milk.

Start the blender on low for about 10 seconds then turn it up to high for about 5 seconds.

Use a tamper tool to make sure the ice gets blended evenly.

STEP 4: Pour coffee frappuccino into two cups.

Each glass holds 17 oz. A Starbucks grande is 16 oz.

STEP 5: Top with whipped cream.

Optional: Sprinkle on a little instant coffee.

Serve with a straw and drink immediately.

COFFEE FRAPPUCCINO TIPS

  • Whipped cream topping can be made ahead of time or while the coffee is brewing then kept in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  • To make the drink sweeter, add another tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk.
  • Coffee can be made ahead of time to cool in the refrigerator.
  • The perfect ratio to make a frappuccino is 4 cups of ice to 1.5 cups of coffee.

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE

Can I make this drink with cold brew coffee?

Yes! Replace the hot brewed coffee with 1.5 cups cold brew coffee.

Can I make this drink with instant coffee?

Yes! Use this mocha frappuccino recipe but take out the chocolate syrup. Using instant coffee is the fastest way to make this drink.

What kitchen tools and appliances are needed to make this?

You just need a coffee maker, a powerful blender (I use my trusty Vitamix), and a handheld milk frother (to make the whipped cream).
