Recipe Highlights

  • Starbucks Iced Latte is a drink made with their signature dark roast espresso, ice, and milk. It doesn’t come sweetened unless you request it to be made with a simple syrup.
  • This copycat drink recreates the Starbucks recipe using Starbucks espresso roast. The recipe makes a grande (16 ounces) Iced Latte.
  • A latte has to be made with espresso, so to make this drink at home, use an espresso machine or a Nespresso.
  • An Iced Latte is the base drink for a lot of Starbucks favorites like Iced Vanilla Latte (Iced Latte + Vanilla Syrup) and Iced Mocha (Iced Latte + Chocolate Syrup).

2 shots of espresso = 2 Nespresso espresso capsules

To make this 16 ounce (grande) Starbucks Iced Latte drink, you’ll need 2 Nespresso Starbucks espresso capsules.

Starbucks makes their Iced Latte with their signature dark roast espresso so to recreate the drink, use the Starbucks Nespresso capsules:
Nespresso Starbucks Espresso Vertuo capsules
Nespresso Starbucks Espresso Original capsules

You can also use any 2 Nespresso espresso or ristretto capsules or 1 double espresso capsule but don’t use any of the 7.77 Vertuo coffee capsules.

Expert Tips

  • To sweeten without adding flavors, use a simple syrup, which will mix into the drink the easiest. Use flavored simple syrups like vanilla to sweeten and flavor the drink.
  • There are many ways to customize an Iced Latte. Use blonde espresso instead of a dark, swap out espresso shots with ristretto, or top the drink with vanilla sweet cream cold foam.
  • If you don’t have an espresso machine or a Nespresso, you can use instant coffee. Combine 1 tablespoon of instant coffee and 1/4 cup hot water to replace the 2 shots of espresso in the recipe.
  • Out of all espresso-based drinks, lattes are made with the most milk. If you want more of a coffee taste, use less milk or add another shot of espresso.
