Put all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer.Simmer until the sugar has completely dissolved. Stir occasionally.
Take off heat and steep for 15 minutes, covered. Turn off heat and let cool.
Strain and pour syrup into an airtight container.The syrup will keep for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
NOTES
Instead of loose mint tea, you can use peppermint tea bags. Make sure the tea bags only contain peppermint. Replace the 3 tablespoons of loose tea with 6 peppermint tea bags or 3 tea sachets.
The longer the mint tea steeps in the saucepan with the sugar and water, the stronger the mint taste will be.
Use a strainer and a funnel to easily strain the mint leaves.
To sweeten and flavor your drink, add 1-2 tablespoons of mint syrup into a cup of coffee or tea.
