Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 3 to make Gingerbread Syrup.

Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.

Bring to a boil on medium-low heat. Stir to make sure sugar has completely dissolved. Turn off the heat and cool.

Step 4 to make Gingerbread Syrup.

Step 2: Strain the syrup into a bottle to filter out any ginger or allspice solids from the liquid.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Recipe Notes

Use fresh minced ginger instead of ground ginger.

Fresh minced ginger gives the syrup the perfect spicy flavor. Store-bought ground ginger cannot achieve the same taste.

Use a funnel and a mesh strainer.

The funnel allows the syrup to flow directly into the bottleneck without making a mess. Place a mesh filter on top of the funnel to prevent any ginger or allspice berries from getting into the bottle.

Make sure to allow the syrup to cool before bottling.

After the ingredients come to a boil, it’s time to turn off the heat and let the mixture completely cool. Straining boiling hot syrup into an airtight bottle is dangerous and may warp your tools or container.
