Free Collectible Starbucks Red Cups

To celebrate the holiday season, Starbucks customers are gifted a red reusable, collectible holiday cup for FREE with a purchase of a handcrafted fall or holiday drink.

This is offered once a year on one day in November.

Red cups are plastic, reusable, grande sized cups for hot drinks.

This year, Red Cup Day is on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Only participating Starbucks will have the red cups and until supplies last. Quantities are limited so it’s better to get to a Starbucks location early in the day. And I mean super early.

In previous years, most stores ran out of red cups by noon with some stores running out 1-2 hours after opening.

Drinks ordered are not made in the reusable red cup. The red cup is given along with the drink.

The design of the red cup isn’t revealed until Red Cup Day.

How to Get Red Cups

To get a free reusable red cup, order a handcrafted fall or holiday drink, in any size. It can be hot, iced, or a Frappuccino.

Orders can be made in-store, at the drive-thru, and on mobile orders.

In order to make sure the drink you order qualifies or if they have any red cups left, you can ask the Starbucks barista before ordering:

“Do you have any red cups left?”
Supplies are limited and every store gets a different number of cups so some stores will run of the red cups faster than others. Once they’re out, they’re out.

“Can I get a red cup with this drink?”
Holiday drinks, including pumpkin spice and regular hot chocolate can be ordered to get a red cup but it’s a good idea to double check with the barista to see if your drink qualifies.

NOTE: Please don’t yell at the baristas if they run out of red cups. Red Cup Day is a super busy day (as you can imagine) and they’re not the ones in control of how many red cups their store gets.

Questions You May Have

What are Starbucks red cups?

To kick off the holiday season, Starbucks offers a free collectible red cup with the purchase of a handcrafted holiday or fall drink. It’s only until supplies last on the day the holiday drinks are introduced for the season.

Can I get a red cup if I get an Iced Caramel Macchiato?

Nope. You can only get red cups with holiday or fall drinks.

Is a brewed coffee with pumpkin cream cold foam considered a holiday drink?

No. Only holiday and fall drinks on the Starbucks menu qualify to get a red cup. Brewed coffee isn’t considered a handcrafted drink so it doesn’t qualify either.
