Step-by-Step Instructions

Cinnamon Dolce Latte ingredients.
  1. Make cream topping.
Cinnamon syrup and heavy cream are whipped together using a handheld milk frother.
  2. Froth milk.
Heat milk on the stovetop or microwave then use a French press to froth. Or use an electric milk frother that will heat and froth at the same time. If you have an espresso machine, use the steam wand to froth the milk.
  3. Assemble drink.
Hot coffee, frothed milk, and cinnamon syrup go into a cup. Stir. Top with cinnamon cream topping. Optional garnish: sprinkle ground cinnamon.

Expert Tips

  • Cinnamon Dolce syrup tastes like sweetened cinnamon with brown sugar so my homemade cinnamon syrup is made with those ingredients. It’s super easy to make at home and costs so much less to make it than buy the Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce syrup.
  • You can buy the Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce syrup at your local Starbucks. Just ask the barista if they have any you can purchase. If they have enough in stock, they’ll sell it to you! See more Starbucks tips.
  • Starbucks makes their Cinnamon Dolce Latte with espresso and steamed milk so to get it to taste as close to the original, use an espresso machine to pull shots and to steam the milk.

Combine warm milk and cinnamon syrup and top with cinnamon cream topping to make a caffeine-free drink for kids.

How is this recipe different than the Starbucks version?

Starbucks’ Cinnamon Dolce Latte is made with espresso and their Cinnamon Dolce syrup and topping. My recipe uses all natural ingredients and don’t contain anything like carageenan and potassium sorbate, which you’ll find in the Starbucks version.

Yield1 serving (16 ounces)

INGREDIENTS

Cinnamon Dolce Latte

Whipped Cream

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Whisk heavy cream and vanilla syrup to make whipped cream. Set aside.
Use a handheld milk frother to make whipped cream in seconds. Whip until soft peaks form.
  • Put cinnamon syrup and espresso into a cup.
Use 2 Nespresso espresso pods or pull 2 shots from an espresso machine.
  • Add frothed milk.
Frothed milk can be made using an electric milk frother or with the steam wand from an espresso machine. Another method is to simmer milk on the stovetop, pour it into a French press, then pump the plunger a few times to create froth.
  • Top drink with whipped cream and a dusting of the cinnamon sugar.

NOTES

  • 1 shot of espresso = 1 Nespresso espresso capsule
  • To make a 16 ounce (grande) Starbucks drink, you’ll need 2 Nespresso espresso or ristretto capsules. You can also use 1 Vertuo double espresso.
  • With the Vertuo machine capsules, only use espresso capsules and not the coffee capsules that make 7.77 ounces.
  • Try using Starbucks Nespresso Blonde Espresso capsules for a smoother taste.
  • Any kind of milk can be used but Starbucks makes theirs with 2% milk.
  • Milk will increase in volume when steamed or frothed, so to get 1 ½ cups of frothed milk for this recipe, use 1 cup of cold milk.
  • Cinnamon syrup tastes like cinnamon sweetened with brown sugar and my homemade cinnamon syrup is made with those ingredients.
  • The vanilla syrup is used only in the whipped cream so if you want to use less ingredients, swap out the vanilla syrup and use the cinnamon syrup to make the whipped cream.
  • Instant coffee can be used if you don’t have espresso. Combine 1 tablespoon of instant coffee and 1/4 cup hot water to replace the 2 shots of espresso in the recipe.

1 thought on “Cinnamon Dolce Latte”

  1. I made this. The only issue was the kreuig has many setting for ounces of coffee. I used cinnamon dolce kcup coffee. It tastes weak so I made the kcup too weak. I needs ounces of coffee. I can guess now. But I ended up adding cinnamon dolce creamer topped off with whipped cream from a can and sprinkle of cinnamon. It’d be perfect had I not added too much water. Good basevrecipe though. I’ll try the syrup next time. Thanks!
