Ingredient Notes

Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte copycat drink ingredients.
  • Espresso
Starbucks makes their Cinnamon Dolce Latte with their signature dark espresso. Use Starbucks coffee to make yours taste similar to theirs. Or use your favorite espresso.
  • Milk
Any kind of milk can be used but Starbucks makes theirs with 2% milk.
  • Cinnamon syrup
Use homemade cinnamon syrup or store-bought.
  • Heavy cream
This gets whipped up with vanilla syrup to make the whipped cream topping.
  • Vanilla syrup
For sweetening and flavoring the whipped cream. Use homemade vanilla syrup or store-bought. You can purchase Starbucks vanilla syrup directly from Starbucks if they have extra in stock.
  • Cinnamon sugar topping
A combination of sugar, cinnamon powder, and a pinch of salt.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Steps to make a Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte copycat drink.

For full ingredients and detailed instructions, please see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  1. Whisk heavy cream and vanilla syrup to make whipped cream. Set aside.
Use a handheld milk frother to make whipped cream in seconds. Whip until soft peaks form.
  2. Put cinnamon syrup and espresso into a cup.
Use 2 Nespresso espresso pods or pull 2 shots from an espresso machine.
  3. Add frothed milk.
Frothed milk can be made using an electric milk frother or with the steam wand from an espresso machine. Another method is to simmer milk on the stovetop, pour it into a French press, then pump the plunger a few times to create froth.
  4. Top drink with whipped cream and a dusting of the cinnamon sugar.

Nespresso Machine Notes

A Nespresso machine is the easiest way to recreate delicious Starbucks drinks at home.

My Nespresso Pick
This Nespresso model makes espresso and brewed coffee and costs around $200. Tip: Skip the Aeroccino and get a bigger milk frother.

1 shot of espresso = 1 Nespresso espresso capsule

To make a 16 ounce (grande) Starbucks drink, you’ll need 2 Nespresso espresso or ristretto capsules. You can also use 1 Vertuo double espresso capsule.

Each espresso capsule makes 1.35 ounces, which can be considered an espresso shot. Ristretto capsules make 0.84 ounces, which is a little less than an espresso shot. Double espresso capsules make 2.7 ounces.

With the Vertuo machine capsules, do not the coffee/mug capsules that make 7.77 ounces.

Any espresso capsule from Nespresso can be used for this recipe but to get the drink to taste the closest to Starbucks, try these:

Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast
Nespresso Vertuo capsules
Nespresso Original capsules
Note: More popular than the Starbucks Espresso Roast capsules.

Expert Tips

  • Milk will increase in volume when steamed or frothed, so to get 1 ½ cups of frothed milk for this recipe, use 1 cup of cold milk.
  • Cinnamon syrup tastes like cinnamon sweetened with brown sugar and my homemade cinnamon syrup is made with those ingredients. It’s super easy to make at home and costs much less than buying it.
  • The vanilla syrup is used only in the whipped cream so if you want to use less ingredients, swap out the vanilla syrup and use the cinnamon syrup to make the whipped cream.
  • Instant coffee can be used if you don’t have espresso. Combine 1 tablespoon of instant coffee and 1/4 cup hot water to replace the 2 shots of espresso in the recipe.

Questions You May Have

Is there caffeine in this drink?

Yes, there’s caffeine from the espresso. In the Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast Nespresso capsule, there’s 80 mg of caffeine. For this recipe, 2 capsules are used, making it 160 mg of caffeine in each serving.

How can I make a Cinnamon Dolce drink for kids that doesn’t contain caffeine?

Combine warm, frothed milk and cinnamon syrup then top the drink with the cinnamon sugar to make a caffeine-free drink.

What is Cinnamon Dolce?

Cinnamon Dolce translates to “sweet cinnamon.” It’s an espresso drink sweetened with a cinnamon simple syrup.
