Ingredient Notes

French vanilla creamer ingredients.
  • Milk: You can use any milk you like but using whole milk will make it creamier and richer.
  • Sweetened condensed milk: It’s milk and sugar but it’s pretty thick so milk helps to thin it out to make it really easy to pour. Because it comes in a can and doesn’t need to be refrigerated, I use always keep some in the pantry.
  • Vanilla extract: Really good vanilla extract will make the creamer taste delicious (way better than store-bought) so this may be where you want to splurge a little bit.

Expert Tips

  • Use high quality vanilla extract to create a rich and flavorful vanilla creamer.
  • Recipe makes a cup of French vanilla creamer. Add 1-2 tablespoons to your coffee. No need to add any sugar or milk since the creamer is both in one.
  • Madagascar Bourbon vanilla is the extract that’s most commonly found in supermarkets and it has a sweet, mellow taste. It’s the one used in the recipe but you can use any kind of vanilla extract from Mexican vanilla (sweet taste with a little spice) to Tahitian (fruity and floral taste).
  • Use it to make hot chocolate by stirring this creamer and cocoa powder in hot milk. Add it to Earl Grey tea instead of sugar and milk.

I just made some. Great! I made my own sweetened condensed milk too. I then added a little Godiva Liquor for an extra special evening drink (with decaf coffee). Yummy!

I have made this creamer before, but didn’t add the vanilla. That sounds like a good idea. Will be trying that the next time I run out. Thank you

I have been making this creamer for years. I personally love it. I have used different extracts to change the flavor. Walnut, pecan, and vanilla are among my favorites.
